All children need an engaged community to thrive.
The Tulsa Area Community Schools Initiative is a network of partnerships between 17 Tulsa Public Schools, nine Union Public Schools, district leaders and community partners, all locally unified under a national education equity strategy known as community schools.
Community schools redefine the role of the traditional school to include comprehensive, holistic student and family supports. Community schools become places and networks of partnerships between the school, families and the community that help children learn, neighborhoods engage and communities thrive. With support and resources from the community, community schools care for the whole child – academically, emotionally, physically and socially.
